Artist Spotlight: Matt Ponting

Matt Ponting is an artist at one of our St Katherine’s Precinct Studios in Limehouse who describes himself as ‘sketcher and illustrator with a worrying tea addiction’! This works out well for him, being in studios right next door to the famous and award winning Yurt Cafe on site. As an illustrator, Matt often creates detailed drawings of landmarks, cityscapes and often works to commission from his studio. Originally training in Biochemistry and Genetics, he then went on to The Royal Drawing School to persue his career in the arts.

Recently Matt has worked selling his creations around various markets and shops including our latest Christmas Market held in collaboration with St Katherine’s Precinct last December.

Matt is heavily involved with his studio site, and has even taken part in painting his studio container. Currently he is working on a commission for a jigsaw manufacturer (see image below), and has taken part in events such as Pulse London- Breaking the boundaries of design and innovation, Brand Licencing Europe 2016, We Built This City and Crafty Fox Market. His products are also stocked in The Tower Bridge Exhibition. He also has a detailed comission guide on his website which you can find here!
