Following on from the success of our Open Studios event in April, we are giving the public the opportunity to discover more about Old Manor Park Library's heritage and the renewal of the space. We will be running tours during the day, where you can meet the artists that are now making use of the space, and there will be a small programme of activity  to get involved in.

Bow Arts in partnership with Create London, supported by Newham Council, managed the redevelopment of the Old Manor Park Library in the London Borough of Newham, into new creative workspaces and a public space.  The Library, a Grade II listed Carnegie building had been closed as a public library since 2011. Bow Arts has brought the building back into public life as a centre providing accessible creative workspaces for artists, and Create London will offer a lively and creative community focused project space, the Rabbits Road Institute.

Rabbits Road Institute Programme

10.30 - 12.30:     Join Rabbits Road Institute to design and create your own vision of the city. This childrens workshop is suitable for all ages. It encourages families to build together and puts children in the position of planner, maker and architect!

13.30 - 15.00:     Old Manor Park Library artist, Martin Barrett will be leading a workshop about constructing characters to be used in a narrative, either for a graphic novel or comic of some description.  It will involve participants pairing up and drawing each other in  a variety of poses while interviewing each other with a set of questions.

Throughout the day:

Subjective Mapping with Laura Knight - What can maps reveal about a place? Come and share your knowledge and experiences of space, history and community as we make a large collaborative map of Manor Park.

Tours of the building with the Rabbits Road Institute Young Artists - Get a glimpse of the rich history of Old Manor Park Library, and learn about it's transformation from public library to thriving artist community!

Plus a treasure trail activity for children!
