Bow Arts' education programme has extended to new boroughs across London to continue the high-quality work of developing the next generation of artists within London, and pioneering schools partnership that puts creative learning firmly in the classroom.
An art installation went up on Tuesday 8 January 2019 at Our Lady and St Philip Neri RC Primary, Sydenham, who are currently one of the 12 schools part of our Lewisham Consortium, which started in September 2018.
The project saw artist Eleanor Lines work with a group of KS2 pupils on key mathematical concepts of tessellation, shape, pattern, repetition and positive and negative space. In the workshops pupils explored these themes visually, with Eleanor’s work and that of Bridget Riley and Anni Albers as inspiration.
The pupil’s work then formed the inspiration for the commission designed by Eleanor, which took the form of a ply mural in the new school hall.
