Automaton Workshop for Families and Adults

Run by Bow Arts Artist, Steve Guy of Fire the Inventor

Drop anchor at Hermitage Moorings for a boat-themed mechanical toy or automaton workshop. Let your imagination ebb and flow as you design and craft a magical boat that bobs around on a mechanical sea driven by cams and chopsticks, and turned with a handle. Christmassy art materials will also be available to push the boat out with seasonal sparkle and maybe a Santa or two aboard.

The workshop navigates the estuary between the discipline of engineering and the free form of art. Participants learn something of the basics of mechanical movement while being playfully creative. It's also an opportunity to get immersed in the boat culture of Hermitage Moorings and find out more about the Thames.

The workshops are suitable for all ages over 5 years (younger ones may need adult help).

Date and times:

Saturday 19 December 2015

Two workshops: 11am – 1pm & 2pm – 4pm.

Maximum of 10 participants per workshop (excluding any accompanying parents/guardians/carers)

Booking essential. Book HERE.

The workshop is run by local kinetic artist Steve Guy of Fire the Inventor. For more information about the workshop and Fire the Inventor visit
