Learning from the masters

Bow Arts worked with over 600 students from Years 8, 9 and 10 at Swanlea School in Whitechapel to deliver a series of artist-led masterclasses as part of the school’s art week.

For this ambitious project, a crack team of seven artists delivered two skills-based workshops each across the day to groups of around 30 students at a time.

The students learnt a range of new art skills in ceramics, collage, painting and printmaking. Each of the artists linked the sessions to their own practice to give an insight into the work of a practicing artist and to encourage a professional approach to making artwork.

The students’ artwork was shared as part of the E1 Consortium Celebration Event, which celebrated our work with a partnership of seven schools in Whitechapel, Tower Hamlets.

It’s good to be more creative, relaxed and open minded. Art has many different shapes and forms and you can make something beautiful using creativity and your own ideas.
