The Bow Arts Green Team have been pushing forward with making us a more sustainable workplace this week.
Bow Arts is committed to sustainability by reducing carbon emissions by 30% by the year 2025, as outlined in our Environmental Policy. We are aware of the big changes that need to be actioned, but also those small steps that make for an ever increasing sustainable workplace. You may have read about some of our previous initiatives in the form of our tea garden and cycling workplaces, and it now brings us a great pleasure to introduce the newest – the wormery! It is definitely a small (wiggling) step, but introducing a gang of 30 worms means we can now recycle our food waste and avoid sending it off to landfill.
The worms were introduced to their new home this morning, and it looks like they are settling in just fine – apparently they love a mix of soil, leaf mulch and wet newspaper. A food waste bin is now in action in the Bow Arts office kitchen and collecting some delicious scraps for the worms to feast on. In a couple months we will harvest our self-produced compost and use it to feed our herb garden.
