Help bring Susan Hiller to Bow for an east London community pilgrimage!

Friday, April 29, 2016 to Saturday, May 14, 2016
The Nunnery, 181 Bow Road, London E3 2SJ

Nunnery Gallery has been selected as one of Connect! 2016 shortlisted venues to run a free and open to all event with renowned artist Susan Hiller (whose work is showcased in collections worldwide, including Tate, Centre Pompidou and V&A).

Our event will bring members of east London’s different communities together for a pilgrimage to a forgotten wishing well in Valentines Park, Ilford to explore old Essex folklores, including scratching wishes on laurel leaves to throw into the well. The pilgrims experience will be documented throughout and presented in a free and open to all event with Susan Hiller on 31 October 2016, as part of the Museums at Night festival. The event’s journey is inspired by Hiller’s Homage to Joseph Beuys series, which collects water from sacred or once-sacred sites around the world.

Voting closes at 9pm on Saturday 14 May, with the winning venue for each artist announced the following day.
