Alongside the Nunnery Gallery’s First Thursday late opening, we will be showcasing a selection of works in the Nunnery Café from artist and illustrator Amy Browne.

This is an opportunity to meet Amy and have your prints signed by the artist.

Her idiosyncratic style takes the everyday world as inspiration, making pieces that are sometimes humorous and sometimes unsettling, from the mundane and ‘normal’ parts of life.

Since completing her master’s degree in Illustration at Camberwell in 2019 she has developed her distinctive and playful style, previously only visible on the occasional friend’s album cover, into a complex world of personified plants, animals, feelings and thoughts.

She works across several mediums, creating large visually complex paintings in gouache and fine liner, in contrast to the hazy lines of her monoprints. She has worked extensively with riso printing, making prints and zines in a variety of styles, and continues to experiment with the medium. She also makes sculptures of her characters, and though they started out as an accompaniment to her image-making these are amongst her most popular works.
