Project Manager: Exhibitions & Development  

We are seeking a Project Manager: Exhibitions & Development to join the Bow Arts team. The role will hold a key position in the Arts & Events department with exhibition planning and delivery, nurturing collaborations and partnerships, and revenue driving through space hire and retail. Exciting projects that fall under this role include the East London Art Prize, Visions in the Nunnery and the annual Bow Open show. Part of the Arts & Events team, the role is led by the A&E Director, works alongside the Curator: Programming & Engagement and is supported by the Gallery Assistant. 

Hours: 35 hours (full-time), Mon to Fri 9am-5pm

Location: On-site Bow Arts office / Nunnery Gallery

Salary: £25,360

Duration: Permanent

Main Tasks:


  • Exhibition administration, including installation, planning and support.
  • Artist liaison with exhibiting artists.
  • Creatively support exhibition planning with the team.
  • Support the Curator of Programming & Engagement with the delivery of the East London Art Prize Mentoring programme.
  • Open call administration for open shows and prizes.
  • Create marketing assets for social media / print.
  • Update and work to project budgets (set by Director).
  • Support exhibition touring planning.
  • Support Director with future exhibition planning and research.
  • Foster positive working relationships with exhibition and project partners / collaborators.

Audience Development & Evaluation

  • Collection of exhibition audience data. 
  • Evaluate and analyse audience data and present learnings to team. 
  • Analyse exhibition marketing data with Marketing Officer.  

Revenue Development

  • Exhibition space hire administration and delivery. 
  • Event space hire administration and delivery.  
  • Develop space hire potential with. 
  • Gallery shop administration, including stock sourcing and management, artist liaison, merchandising, raising Purchase Orders, and general development of the shop to increase sales.   
  • Establishing and developing an online gallery shop. 
  • Boosting exhibition and artwork sales, utilising Bow Arts’ Own Art membership.  
  • Curation and organisation of Nunnery Café exhibitions of affordable artworks. 
  • Scoping out grant and sponsorship opportunities.  

Team Responsibilities

  • Flexibility to work / key-hold some evening and weekend events (events will be agreed in advance and repaid through TOIL).
  • Support other projects, including makers markets, commissions and residencies in collaboration with the team.
  • Ensure health and safety needs are met for projects (training can be provided).
  • Support gallery’s team of volunteers.
  • Work front of house in the Nunnery Gallery when needed.
