The resurgence of natural dyes Talk + Q&A + Networking

Date:
Thursday, May 31, 2018
Opening Hours:
6-8pm
Address:
R.A.W. Lab Norton Quays Royal Albert Wharf London E16 2QJ

What are natural dyes? How were historical dyes historically used and why there's been a growing interest in working with natural dyes in the textile arts and fashion? How are natural dyes more environmentally friendly than synthetic dyes? How can natural dyes be incorporated in fashion?

Join this talk by Zoë Burt, an award winning artist, book author and art tutor, and find out about her work with natural dyes. During the event there will be opportunities to ask questions, network and purchase a copy of NSN Magazine and Zoë Burt's latest co-authored book 'Nature Journal: Seasonal Creative Projects".

All welcome to attend the first of a new series of monthly NSN Magazine events (talks + Q&A + networking) dedicated to exploring how creative businesses, innovative designers and artisans work for a new sustainable society. The event will take place at R.A.W Lab (London, UK). R.A.W. Lab is just a 5-minute walk from Gallions Reach DLR station.

NSN Magazine is a quarterly publication dedicated to exploring how environmental activism, crafts, design and business intersect in contemporary society. Each month, we will have expert speakers give a talk, and then there will be a Q&A and further opportunities to network and promote your eco-friendly creative business online to our social media following.

Events are FREE for everyone to benefit, but we'd love if you could support us by buying a copy of the magazine (at a discounted price if you pay in advance).

NSN Magazine events will take place from May every last Thursday of the month. Topics of future events will include:

Reviving traditional trades and crafts

The role of businesses in making of a greener economy

Eco-friendly practices in the arts and crafts

Innovative eco design

Sustainable sourcing of materials

Slow fashion, ethical textile

Circular economies

Creative recycling and upcycling

Zero waste and plastic free life

The role of artisanship in environmental activism
