Xriss Xross is a new, free festival of poetry, art, performance, and workshops for one day only open to all.
Join the Poetry School in collaboration with Raw Labs and the Royal Docks for a quickfire exchange of ideas, culture, language, and ‘cross-literature’ in this one-day inter-disciplinary festival of workshops and live writing.
Using the Royal Docks’ 150 year heritage as a global centre for trade and a meeting point of different cultures and languages, this unique festival of inter-disciplinary workshops will explore multiple creative exchanges, experimentations, and explorations of boundaries, trade, travel, immigration, forgotten stories, and unheard voices past and present.
With multiple overlapping sessions loosely linked together via interactive poetry creation, happenings, workshops, and events, fusing creative writing and poetry workshops with performance, music, and art, Xriss Xross will feature workshops led by Anthony Anaxagorou, Jade Cuttle, Leo Boix, Dean Atta, Victoria Adukwei Bulley, Eleanor Penny, and Ella Frears. The programme will include cut-ups, songwriting, beginners poetry workshops, translation games, and much more.
The festival culminates at 7pm with two very special performances: Antosh Wojcik will be presenting a new live piece, ‘weird today’, combining poetry, drumming and sound art; and Anthony Anaxagorou will be reading from his latest collection, After the Formalities.
Please note, this is a free event but all workshops will be ticketed to help manage demand. Please book now to express your interest and to be the first to find out when the full programme is released. The full day includes a fully licensed bar and café.
