Silke Dettmers was born in Oldenburg, Germany and currently lives and works in London; she has been part of Bow Arts’ Bow Road studios since 2007. Dettmer’s work is not specific to any one medium and she states that her “practice engages with the constant development within the urban environment”. Her recent work looks at the new development of the Olympic National Park and its effect on place, as she is “fascinated by the way vast architectural projects are changing the nature and demography of given areas”.  Dettmers has studied with the Royal College of Art London, the St. Martin’s School of Art and Design London, and the Staatliche Hochschule Fuer Bildende Kuenste in Braunschweig, Germany.
