Join us for a spectacular celebration of Bow Arts’ 30th anniversary! Get hands-on on creative in our Bow Families Special workshop and sculpt your own 3D carnivalesque mask with artist Madi Acharya-Baskerville, bringing vibrant colours and textures to life.
Unmask the fun at this year’s BowFest: Open Studios! Take a break from the bustling stalls to explore new textures and colours of the summer season. Mold, shape and create your masterpiece, transforming discarded materials into stunning 3D carnivalesque masks.
In this family-friendly sculptural workshop, children and families will be using egg boxes, cardboard, acrylic paint and decorative accessories like gems and feathers to bring their imagination to life. All materials are provided.
This workshop is accessible for 4 to 11-year-olds (and adults too of course!) and takes place inside the Bow Arts Courtyard Room, alongside the markers’ market with local artists in the Courtyard.
Bow Families is a series of free, drop-in family art workshops that take place on the last Sunday of every month in the Bow Arts Courtyard Room. These sessions are a wonderful opportunity for local families to get creative and try something new! Each session is led by a Bow Arts’ Artist and all materials are provided.
More about Madi Acharya-Baskerville
Madi Acharya-Baskerville is an Asian born diaspora artist, living and working in the UK. Broadly speaking, the themes explored in her work range from environmental concerns, migration and exile and gender issues. What unites them is the found element, matter that already exists around us, an enduring reflection of the human condition. Her practice involves the synthesis of unlikely elements which she sources from different locations, the coastline, woodlands and vintage markets.
Using objects, textiles, song, conversation and magazine cuttings which resonate with her on some level, she creates works which move fluidly between different media. Some of the materials have had a past life such as wooden panels previously part of furniture or embroidered textiles which have seen better occasions. Through joyous transformative processes these objects and materials are reborn as part of something new.
