Film Screening: Joanna Penso & Nye Thompson

An experimental sound-led film, depicting 4 strangers performing the act of meal sharing, attempting to move and chew to the beat of an ever-quickening metronome in the centre of the table. Made possible via crowd funding and the support of Poplar Union, Bow Arts and Hey Sister Coffee
Digestion Symphony was longlisted for the Aesthetica Art Prize 2023 and was exhibited at York Art Gallery this year.

A supertall barrier wall splits the arid wastes of Mars. In the ultimate exoplanetary power flex artist Nye Thompson has exploited mapping data systems to lay claim to an area of Mars and erect a border around her territory. You are not a citizen. The wall now defines your journey. The excluded viewer must navigate along the exterior of this undocumented artefact, phasing through alien landscapes of cobalt dust dunes and plunging chasms in the tenuous hope of access.
