Community Celebration Day

Join us to celebrate our community’s contribution to Raw Materials: Plastics, with a free open day of activities, food and drink.  
We will be celebrating the achievements of the Raw Materials: Plastics community Steering Group, whose hard work made the project’s research, findings and exhibition possible.
In Bow Arts’ outdoor and covered courtyard – next to the Nunnery Gallery – the day will be a chance to celebrate and learn, with free refreshments and drop-in hands-on activities for all ages. We invite you to join us to find out more about the history of plastics, meet the people who led the research and hear their stories.
This event is free and open to all. 
Raw Materials explores the forgotten industrial history of plastic in east London around the River Lea. The exhibition reveals the story of east London’s central role in the invention and early development of plastics, showcasing some of the very first plastic objects alongside newly commissioned artwork which tell the story of this material’s remarkable journey. Access Information
Bow Arts Courtyard has step-free access throughout from street level, including to the accessible toilet and is service animal friendly. This venue does not have a hearing loop system.
Accessible parking is not available on-site but blue badge parking can be found 500m away on Fairfield Road.
