On the first Saturday of each month, local residents are invited to explore a range of food & drink stalls and workshops.
The last Cygnet Square Market will commence on Saturday 1st June 2024.
Head over to Cygnet Square to enjoy delicious street food from fantastic street food vendors, in partnership with Ace Events Ltd. The market, a stone’s throw away from Abbey Wood Station, will also feature free workshops, ran by Bow Arts Thamesmead artists.
Join ornithological investigator J D Swann and the Southmere Swan for a free interactive game. You can guess which food certain birds like to eat and if appropriate, what to feed them.
Feeding birds can be helpful for them, especially through the winter months.
Learn which food is good and nutritious for the birds, and which may be bad for them.
Pick n Mix Swan Food will be available for all participants.

This workshops is free and will take place outdoors in Cygnet Square, 11am to 3pm.
Last month featured a Draw-A-Thon, where four amazing artists took turns showcasing their fabulous drawing skills! The day started off with Myra Barraza drawing portraits to the sound of your favourite songs, followed by Ian Maslen who took in the local architecture and produced a drawing of Thamesmead! The onto Myra, who drew your beloved pets from pictures, followed by Chloe Cooper who took inspiration from a Care Bears book to draw people as cartoon-y characters. Then came Roni Parker, who journaled using doodles.
Throughout the day, we invited all of you to draw, doodle, sketch, or write on one large scale community drawing, as well as several smaller images.
We were also joined by Amanda Eatwell for a fun yet challenging Dynamic Yoga class in the centre of Cygnet Square, perfect to do in the sun!
The market will take place on the first Saturday of every month from April- June and is free to attend.
Updates on the Market will be displayed in the Bow Arts lakeside_centre Instagram account.
