First Thursday Late with The Gentle Author

The Gentle Author of Spitalfields Life gives an illustrated talk surveying the evolution of painting in the East End and tracing the changing nature of the streets through the last century.
Set in The Working Artist – the current exhibition of paintings by the East London Group at the Nunnery Gallery – in a broad historical context, the lecture includes works by John Allin, S. R. Badmin, Pearl Binder, Dorothy Bishop, James Boswell, Roland Collins, Alfred Daniels, Anthony Eyton, Doreen Fletcher, Geoffrey Fletcher, Barnett Freedman, Noel Gibson, Charles Ginner, Lawrence Gowing, Harry T. Harmer, Elwin Hawthorne, Rose Henriques, Dan Jones, Nathaniel Kornbluth,Leon Kossoff, James Mackinnon, Cyril Mann, Jock McFadyen, Ronald Morgan, Grace Oscroft, Peri Parkes, Henry Silk, Harold Steggles, Walter Steggles & Albert Turpin.
Doors open at 6pm, talk begins at 7.30pm. The Gentle Author will sign copies of East End Vernacular after the lecture.
