Indigo Dyeing Workshop

Join Raw Materials: Textiles resident artist Sarah Desmarais for a paste resist and indigo dyeing workshop. This is a chance to learn and explore a fabric-printing method used over hundreds of years across the world, printing patterns on silk, cotton and linen. Participants will hand-cut paper stencils and use a flour-paste resist to print designs onto fabric, which will then be dyed. When the resist is dry, we’ll dye them with natural indigo and wash the resist out to leave a pattern. All materials provided and samples can be taken home!
