‘Intimate Histories’ is the first BigSmall artists’ exhibition in the UK and is showcasing the work of 7 Irish and 6 Chinese artists whose work reflects their shared concerns with personal narrative. The work is 2D, 3D (using a wide range of materials) & video and will be exhibited in an ‘intimate and domestic’ context.
Fion Gunn & Ray Murphy set up BigSmall as a response to the interest and enthusiasm witnessed during their recent Irish/Chinese exhibitions in Beijing. It is an informal partnership which can respond quickly and flexibly to new ideas and new projects for collaboration between diverse minority communities. Its aim is to provide a framework for new collaborative projects some of which will be initiated by Murphy & Gunn and others which will be led by invited artists. www.bigsmallartists.com
The exhibition will be formally opened by his Excellency Bobby McDonagh, Ambassador of Ireland and her Excellency Fu Ying, Ambassador of China on 3 September 6pm-9pm
