Panel Talk: Breaking Down Walls – new ways of approaching creative workspace

Part of London Festival of Architecture 2016, ‘Breaking Down Walls’ is a panel discussion that will explore the new and different ways of approaching creative workspace in London.
The panel will explore the way 20-year-old studio providers Bow Arts have been challenging the traditional studio set-up by working closely with architects, aiming to encourage communities and connections between artists and makers by the way a building or space is set up and divided. 
Headed by Bow Arts’ Head of Creative Workspaces, Michael Cubey, the panel will be made up of representatives from Delvendahl Martin and APPARATA architects, who have worked with Bow Arts on their most recent building developments; and Dr. Kerstin Sailer, a Lecturer at The Bartlett, UCL, whose research interests include the relationship between spatial configuration and usage processes.
Creating communities of artists is part of Bow Arts’ over-arching mission of community renewal within east London. This panel will respond to the Festival’s theme of community by examining whether the approach of space planning within a building can influence this mission, by creating a community within a space that then has positive impacts within the communities outside of its walls.
Doors will open at 6.30pm, the panel discussion will begin at 7pm.
