6-7.30pm (8th Floor, 125 Shaftesbury Avenue, WC2H 8AD)

Join artist and educator Esther Neslen for a dynamic workshop that unlocks the potential of clay as a versatile learning tool across the curriculum.

In this workshop participants will:

  • Move beyond traditional clay project and discover how this tactile medium can foster empathy as students explore the experiences of others through creation
  • Integrate the use of clay into unexpected areas: we’ll explore how clay can augment learning in other areas of the curriculum outside of art lessons
  • Learn how to use clay as a concrete learning experience. imagine crafting models that illustrate scientific concepts, historical artefacts, or even narrative stimuli for creative writing.
  • Learn how clay can cater for diverse learning styles, providing an active, hands-on approach to learning that can create varied access points to students who benefit from tactile experiences.

We’ll provide a foundation in basic clay techniques, but the real focus will be on innovative pedagogy and using clay to ignite curiosity and understanding.

No experience necessary; all materials provided.

These Bow Arts practical art CPD workshops for teachers aim to equip participants with skills that can be applied immediately in the classroom, while aiming to reshape attitudes to what it means to work with art materials sustainably.

The techniques explored in each workshop aim to make use of inexpensive, easy-to-access art materials, and can be applied to primary and secondary school level.
