The ‘Tapestry of Feeling in the Shape of Nature’ exhibition suggests that our emotions are not separate from nature but instead are shaped by it. It hints that the landscape, environment, or natural world serves as both a mould and a source for human feelings. The ‘shape’ could refer to both the physical form of nature—mountains, rivers, forests—and the more subtle, intangible qualities of nature, like its rhythms, seasons, and energy.
Following the workshop ‘What Colour Does Nature Feel?’, the artist uses its findings as a reference to create artwork for the exhibition. The immersive nature of the artwork will encourage participants to feel present and engaged. Inspired by Peter Lanyon’s approach to experiencing landscapes––favouring an ecocentric perspective over an anthropocentric, distanced view––Elina Yumasheva hopes to foster a deeper connection to the natural world. The non-representational approach to experiencing the natural world could evoke emotional responses, inviting viewers to reflect on the subject through the lens of their personal feelings.
The project uses art to connect with individuals while serving as a catalyst for change, drawing from insights into environmental campaigning. Elina aims to bridge behavioural science and emotional impact, employing triggers such as colour, and sound to inspire actionable responses. https://elinaart.com/
