For our 8th residency at Royal Albert Wharf as part of the RAW Labs X Art Residency, join John Lord for a panoramic overview of the community and area, utilising found or reclaimed materials.
Residency dates | Mar 17 – Mar 31
Workshops | 21, 22, 23, 25, 27, 28 Mar, 1:00pm – 5:00 pm
Private View: 22 Mar 4:00pm – 7:00pm
Join John for an open forum on the previously stated dates and times to contribute to a unique residency project exploring portraiture through charcoal drawing. Participants will receive one-on-one tuition, gaining hands-on experience with charcoal techniques, and will create portraits that will become part of a large-scale community artwork titled The Community of Royal Albert Wharf.
This collaborative exchange between himself and the community will focus on representing Royal Albert Wharf’s residents through portraiture. Additionally, salvaged and reclaimed materials from the surrounding area may serve as alternative surfaces, integrating found objects into the final installation. Whether you are new to drawing or have experience, this is an opportunity to be part of an evolving artwork that reflects the people and stories of our community.
More about the RAW Labs X Art Residency
The RAW Labs X Art Residency places a strong emphasis on creative growth and interdisciplinary dialogue, creating a unique space where art and community intersect. Supported by Notting Hill Genesis and Bow Arts, this initiative aims to foster interaction and encourage active participation in the cultural fabric of Royal Albert Wharf, enhancing both the artistic and communal experience.
Over six months, selected artists will undertake two to three-week residencies in an immersive environment to expand their practice, explore new concepts, exchange diverse perspectives, and experiment with innovative approaches.
