Join Annamaria Michela for an immersive residency exploring the theme of memory. Memory is fluid, shaped by time, emotion, and reinterpretation. This project examines the delicate balance between remembering and forgetting, and the role art practice plays in this process, using layered painting techniques and cyanotype to reflect how memories surface, fade, and transform. Through art-making and community engagement, the residency invites participants to question what we keep, what we lose, and how memory shapes our identity.
Workshop 22 Feb, 11:00 – 3:00
Exhibition and Performance, 27 Feb, 5:00pm – 8:00 pm
Workshop 1 Mar, 12:00pm – 4:00pm
During the workshops, participants will also explore eco-sustainability in art, learning traditional and environmentally conscious painting techniques. Over two weeks, Annamaria will work with handmade tempera and cyanotype, investigating the ways in which we preserve or release memories while embracing sustainable artistic practices. This project bridges traditional art-making with contemporary concerns, offering both a personal artistic exploration and a community-focused experience through hands-on workshops.
Community Workshops
Workshop 1: Cyanotype & Memory Reflection – Using the cyanotype process, participants will engage in a creative exercise of documenting their personal memories. Families, couples, or individuals will write or draw a cherished memory, expose it to UV light, and then create a collaborative artwork exploring what we keep and what fades over time.
Workshop 2: Handmade Tempera & Sustainable Painting – Participants will learn how to create their own natural tempera paint using eco friendly materials. This hands-on session will encourage an exploration of colour, texture, and personal expression, while raising awareness of sustainable art
practices. Each workshop is designed to be accessible and engaging for families, couples,
and individuals of all skill levels.
Exhibition and performance
Annamaria‘s residency will culminate in a water immersion performance, symbolizing the shifting, eroding, and evolving nature of memory. This act will invite audiences to reflect on the fluidity of memory and the tension between preservation and loss.
