Join us to see our latest exhibition in an informal atmosphere, and meet with some of the Learning team to learn about our recent projects, or how we can support visual arts provision at your school. There will also be a drop-in practical workshop, and drinks and nibbles will be provided.
The East London Art Prize Shortlist Exhibition celebrates and promotes the incredible talent and diversity of art made in the cultural hive of east London. Themes explored in the shortlisted works include cultural displacement, the shared histories of black British women, isolation and belonging within Muslim communities, and navigating everyday life as a person with disabilities.
Proudly sponsored by Minerva, the winner of the East London Art Prize receives a life-changing cash prize of £15,000 and a solo exhibition at our Nunnery Gallery. The runner-up second prize is a year’s studio space with Bow Arts.
The works are moving, probing, funny and poignant, inviting visitors to explore their messages through their varying media, which includes film, ceramic, performance, painting and sculpture.
“All sorts of extraordinary stories have been told [in the shortlist] – expressions of the sheer range of what art can communicate. The shortlist truly demonstrates what an incredibly creative destination east London is.”
