The Nunnery’s First Thursday opening is part of CREATE 11’s East London Art Weekend, a weekend of special events programmed at galleries across East London. Connection Point London is curated by Edward Lucie Smith and Max Presniell. The show features work from 30 Bow Arts artists whose work include painting, sculpture, photography and video.
The title refers to the capital’s reputation as the most international city on earth. Co-curator Edward Lucie Smith explains that “Bow Arts is home to young artists from all over the world. It is the equivalent of La Rûche and Le Bateau Lavoir in early 20th century Paris – but bigger and culturally more various. The aim of this year’s exhibition has been to stress this ever-expanding internationalism.”
How appropriate to be part of CREATE’s annual summer festival that celebrates Europe’s largest cultural quarter – the East of London. It offers a packed programme of activities across music, design, art, food and film. Come along to over 200 events that explore east London’s canals, waterways, motorways, disused spaces, historic music halls, cutting-edge galleries, parks and open spaces. Events take place from Thursday 7 – Sunday 10 July. Visit createlondon.org for full listings.
