Visions in the Nunnery

Visions in The Nunnery is an annual exhibition and series of events showcasing international moving image work by both emerging and established artists. Coordinated and curated by Tessa Garland and Cinzia Cremona, the exhibition features a variety of conceptual approaches and aesthetic choices. In addition to the exhibition, Visions in The Nunnery includes a programme of special screenings and events.

International Open Submission:
Fri, Sat & Sun 2nd-17th October: 1-5pm

(This exhibition will be running throughout these times although some spaces will be closed during special programmed events)

An exhibition of moving image work selected by Tessa Garland and Cinzia Cremona with help and support from Rebecca Savage and Valentina Ferrandes. Visions in the Nunnery 2010 features thirty six international artists to highlight an exciting art form thriving with enthusiasm and challenges.

Includes the British premiere of Michael Mazière’s new work Actor . Also showing work by Reynold Reynolds, Rä di Martino, Elodie Pong, Rosie Pedlow and Joe King.

Critical Forum:
Sunday 3rd October, 2pm — 4pm

Moving Mountains- Do moving image practices change the world?

A panel discussion exploring how moving images mediate and affect our relationship with the world we live in.

Invited speakers include Michael Mazière, Jini Rawlings and Richard Wright.

Organised in collaboration with and supported by the Centre for Research and Education in Arts and Media (CREAM), University of Westminster.

First Thursday:

Place Memory II:
Saturday 9th October, 2pm — 5pm

Guest curator Louisa Fairclough from Stroud based arts platform Mezzanine (www.mezz.info) will present an afternoon of films, performance and drawing exploring ideas of memory and its association with place.

This event includes work by Tacita Dean, Susan Collins, Phil Coy, Colin Glen, Kathleen Herbert, Mikhail Karikis, Michelle Ohlson, Uriel Orlow, Jayne Parker, Simon Ryder and Dominic Thomas

Performance in the Nunnery: Move Me!:
Saturday 16th October 6.30pm — 10.30pm

This year Visions in the Nunnery will be hosting an exciting evening of live performance and Video performances curated by Cinzia Cremona and featuring work by Franko B, Richard Layzell and Bill Aitchison.
