Visions in the Nunnery – ‘Throb Finders’ Virtual Event

Wednesday 13 January 2021 - 12:00 am

Throb Finders is an interactive online workshop created and led by performance artist Chloe Cooper, which invites you to practice exploring, sharing and enacting your desires in a safe and welcoming environment. We’ll be looking, breathing, tracing (with our fingers, noses and mouths) playing with objects in our homes, talking to each other in small groups and all together too. We’ll be referring not to our own body parts, but to pleasure pouches which exist via Chloe’s unique online portal featured in the images below.
You might be someone for whom exploring your desires at a physical distance from others is something you’re familiar with, because of your own preferences or the constraints placed on you by the discriminatory practices of wider society…or it might be a new thing for you brought on by the social distancing rules in response to the pandemic. You will be encouraged to articulate your desires, seeing how they align with the others on your screen, and how they have the potential to form the basis of community building. The content is not explicitly sexual, but splashes about in the rocky waters of bodies, fantasies and identity politics.

If you have any questions or would like to know more please contact nunnery@bowarts.com
The online content works best when using Google Chrome as a browser on a laptop or desktop computer (as opposed to a tablet or phone), so if you’re able to access a laptop or desktop computer for the workshop and download Google Chrome onto it before the workshop, please do!

Chloe Cooper is an artist and educator. She makes performative workshops and instructional videos on sexual politics, collaboration, and identity via paper marbling and hand-made silicone props. Participants in her workshops are encouraged to practice sharing fluids, seeking consent and experimenting safely. Alongside exhibiting and performing both nationally and internationally since 2008, Chloe works in museums with groups of people to try to introduce some wetness into the institution by looking critically at the collections, the hierarchies present and our place within both.
