Workshop: Make your story into a map using braided lazos with Lucía Scarselletta
Saturday 10th October 2026 , 3:00pm to 5:00pm
A participatory workshop to make lazos, exploring the memories, movements and stories held within everyday objects and places.

Participants are invited to bring an object that has accompanied them through different places or stages of their lives. Through guided prompts, we will reflect on the journeys these objects have travelled and the histories they carry. Together, we will map these journeys and connect places through braided lazos, creating a collective map of movement, memory, and exchange.
‘Lazo’ is a braided rope used for hunting and animal domestication, while also being a Spanish synonym for bond and kinship. Based on this contradiction, Lucía proposes to make ‘lazos’ together and rethink their usage, transforming them into an object of connection rather than domination.
The workshop forms part of the Expressions of Fluidity: Story-tale Map public programme at The Rum Factory, exploring how objects and places hold layered personal, social and material histories. Find out more about the exhibition.
Don’t miss out. Join us at the Rum Factory for a free day of workshops around storytelling and the history of Wapping on October 10th with our Freedom of the Press workshop
