Children look at their artwork on display

Thamesmead Consortium 2022

Consortia model

From January to December 2022, we worked with 1,897 children from eight different primary schools in Greenwich and Bexley for the first time to form the Thamesmead Consortium, with kind support from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.

We worked with Bow Arts Educators to deliver 71 workshops, including artwork installations, creative workshops, teacher CPD sessions, and an excellent Arts Award programme for young people.

Every art project was tailored to the needs of the schools and their pupils. Our report found that post-pandemic wellbeing and promoting pride in the local area were recurring themes in the Thamesmead Consortium’s work. There was also a strong drive to make the arts curriculum more inclusive and representative of the children we work with.

The projects culminated in a celebration event for all the schools, with artist-led workshops and an exhibition to showcase the children’s work.
