IceHouse Court Studios

IceHouse Court Studios in Barking is Bow Arts' first studio building in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.

Bow Arts won a tender to create 4400 sqft of creative workspace for artists designers and makers in the new IceHouse Creative Quarter in Barking. Supported by the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and the Mayor of London’s High Street Fund the site provides a much needed affordable creative studio space for around 20 individual creative practices. Bow Arts worked with architects Delvendahl Martin to design the internal studio layout and unique partition designs for a new kind of immersive and productive workplace.

To celebrate the opening of our IceHouse Court Studios, the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham commisioned a film to highlight the importance of artists and culture to their vision for the positive growth of the borough. Watch it here.

Along with our existing P1 studios in Bow, this studio site is accessible for disabled and non-disabled users.

There are self-contained studios of approximately 400 square feet / 35 square metres each, plus a larger divided space with 4 spaces of a similar size. The studios are ideal for those who require a large studio, or for artists, designers and makers who want the benefit of sharing a space to reduce costs with the gain of being in a larger space. Spaces will start from approximately £90 per week for a 400 square foot studio, or £45 per week for a share of a 400 square foot studio.

Full sizes and price details of all studios can be downloaded here.

As with all our studios, the design allows for easy interaction between studio users who want to have access not just to affordable studio space but the benefit of working in a supportive creative environment with other artists designers and makers.

How to Apply for one of these spaces:

You'll need to be registered with us first which you can do here, We suggest you do this now as then you will be eligible to come on a studio viewing when we announce these to registered artists. We want to ensure we build a really cohesive creative community at this site, after each viewing artists, makers and designers will be asked to provide further information and then we will shortlist individuals for a brief informal interview. As part of the application process for these spaces, you'll need to describe how you see your creative practice emerging and or growing over the next few years.

We are grateful for the support of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and delighted to be working with the council to increase the opportunities for creative practices in the borough.
