Bow Arts has created 40 new build affordable studio spaces at Royal Albert Wharf in an exciting new development with Notting Hill Housing. We have fitted out the internal spaces working with Delvendahl Martin Architects, who designed our Bow Arts offices and recent Icehouse Court Studios in Barking.
The studios are set within a large and evolving new housing and commercial development within the historic Royal Albert Docks, the largest enclosed docks in the world, surrounding nearly 250 acres of water. The whole area is set to gain over 9,000 new homes by 2027.All the studios are set close to the water, in what really is a unque environment in London.
As well as the studios designed for artists designers and makers, Bow Arts is managing the entire commercial estate on behalf of Notting Hill Housing, and are seeking expressions of interest from a range of interesting commercial tenants for the office, retail, cafe and restaurant spaces within the site.
To initiate cultural activity on-site we are creating The RAW Lab : A place for ideas, action and reaction. The RAW Lab will host a changing programme of art, events, conversation and coffee, book exchange, film club and yoga and more. Currently the The RAW Lab is open Saturday and Sunday, serving great coffee and sharing great ideas. Our first artist in residence Stephen Guy is in place here until Spetember, making animatronic creations and offering worskhops with residents. We are also exploring a range of independant food and drink offers to bring life to the early stages of this development. Keep an eye on this website for What's On updates of activity on-site.
