Explosion of Words is a cinematic photo installation, celebrating the power of language. The exhibition is the culmination of Swiss artist Hannes Schüpbach’s response to the lived spaces of east London-based poet and language activist Stephen Watts, who works between extensive research on poetry and his own contributions as a poet and co-translator from many languages.

Benedict Drew’s Programme 3 is an ethereal exploration into fantasy and fiction, with artists drawing on music, 16mm film, poetry, ritual and nature to make sense of our current moment in time.  

Nye Thompson’s Programme 2 explores our world through the many new digital systems that have fundamentally changed how we see and exist. Data is harvested, other worlds are imagined and the cataclysmic effect of technology is explored. 

Hetain Patel’s Programme 1 kick starts Visions 2020 with a poignant showcase of works exploring themes pertinent to Patel’s work, including identity, migration, gender, heroes and movement.  

Lightboxes & Lettering celebrates the fascinating and important history of east London’s print industry, and tells the story of the print industry across the 20th century, focusing on the east London boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Waltham Forest.

Exploring the theme ‘In Circles’ in the context of disability, disabled and non-disabled artists were invited to submit work for Shape Arts’ seventh annual Open exhibition that ignites debate and discussion on disability from a wide range of viewpoints.

Artist Carey Young has chosen 19 artists for Bow Arts’ annual Open Show with a call for works that respond to “our current political moment”.

Bow Arts presents a retrospective of works by painter Doreen Fletcher, curated by The Gentle Author.
Doreen Fletcher’s atmospheric urban landscapes have only recently captured an audience, when the discovery of her paintings revealed a distinctive vision of the changing capital. For the first time, the Nunnery Gallery will bring the majority of her work back under one roof, in the home of their making – the East End.

Programme 3 is headed by Welsh artist Bedwyr Williams, who is presenting both performance and film as part of Visions’ closing programme.

Programme 2 premieres a new work from lead artist Melanie Manchot, Out of Bounds (C) (2018), which continues Manchot’s ongoing exploration of the socio-economic and ecological microclimate of a Swiss mountain and its alpine community.
