Rotation Art: The Scheme
Rotation Art is a Bow Arts scheme giving artists the opportunity to exhibit work in different private and public spaces for short term periods. Original pieces of art are placed in public or private venues, with maximum exposure to professional opportunities and commercial connections. For artists, it gives access to new audiences for their work. For host organisations, it brings a splash of culture from the East London art scene right into their designated space.
Whilst actively promoting the artists of East London, we work with host organisations to find the most appropriate art for their spaces. We put out calls for submissions, and guide the host venue through the selection process. We then coordinate the hanging and marketing of the piece or collection of pieces, and maintain regular contact with both hosts and artists, to ensure all parties are happy. Rotation of art works takes place every 3-4 months.
Rotation Art: The Venue
The View is an inward investment and marketing suite for east London, hosting a range of high profile meetings and events and welcoming visitors from across London and the UK as well as internationally. It is fortunate to have what most agree to be the best views of the Olympic Park and Stadium for the Games and Paralympic Games in 2012.
For the last year, The View has been an extraordinary setting for many different pieces. Work has been placed on display in The View for 3-4 months at a time, with accompanying information and artist contact details. Featured artists have included Sarah Harvey, Mediha Ting, Paige Bradley, Claire Mitten and Liz Rajmohani Mundle.
Rotation Art: The Feedback
Rob Ellwood of The View:
"We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Bow Arts by exhibiting works from local artists in our venue. Much of the art featured – containing links and references to east London, the regeneration taking place in the area and the Olympics – injects some culture and vibrancy into our venue and creates a focal point within the space. More importantly, however, it showcases some of the creative talent in the area. We are a unique venue, and the art on display that gets rotated every quarter, offers an exclusive insight into life, art and changing times in this emerging part of the capital."
