Studio & gallery visits

Inspire your students with visits to our artist studios and contemporary art space, the Nunnery Gallery.

“The studio visit helped the pupils to understand opportunities in art. Many of the pupils were inspired by the artist’s techniques and went on to try these out in their own work.”

Studio visits

Give your students a unique insight behind closed doors, to see artists’ working environments and creative processes first-hand.

Our studio visits are tailored to learners’ needs, and can be designed to explore a specific theme or medium. They provide insight into the lives of creative professionals and the many careers that exist within the creative industries.

Students will have the opportunity to hear about the artist’s practice and ask questions, with the possibility of a follow up practical taster session responding to the artist’s work.

We manage over 400 professional workspaces for practising artists, designers and makers in London, and studio visits are welcome at any of our sites.

Nunnery Gallery

The Nunnery Gallery is our non-for-profit, contemporary art gallery in Bow, east London. Visiting enables students to see and experience an exhibition first hand. Our exhibition programme showcases both archive collections and artwork by contemporary artists, often with a focus on the history and themes of our local area.

We are happy to organise visits that are led by artists and curators, so students can learn more about the exhibition, gallery and artworks themselves. Interacting with artwork helps develop student’s visual literacy, strengthening their ability to explore, interpret and discuss visual material.

“Contact with the artists brought the artwork to life.”
