Bow Arts and Almacantar’s 2025-26 artist residency cohort come together to present work made during their year-long residency at Royal Albert Wharf studios.

Bringing together Almacantar Studio Award winners Mengmeng Zhang, Charlotte Winifred Guérard and Amelia Akiko Frank, this two-day end of residency exhibition celebrates the artists’ time in the studios and shares the ideas, processes and practices developed over the period in residence.
Ranging from aesthetically playful and dynamic, to voluptuously magnetic or lightly gestural, the works catch the artists in moments of re-shaping and mutating the symbols in their practice, which variously blur and merge, or venture to live outside the frame.

About Amelia Akiko Frank
Amelia Akiko Frank is an artist and writer based between London and New York. Rooted in the language of drawing, her practice unpacks how history, power, and national mythologies are symbolically constructed and aesthetically maintained.
Amelia holds an MFA from Goldsmiths, University of London, where she was awarded the yearlong Almacantar Studio Award, and BAs in Visual Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities from the University of Chicago, where she was awarded the Louis Sudler Prize in the Arts. She has exhibited in London with ArtULTRA (solo), Roha Gallery, Chilli Gallery (duo), Koppel Projects, Hypha, Kabinett Gallery, and OHSH Projects; in New York with Studio 9D, Citizens for the Arts, and Tutu Gallery; in Chicago with Columbia College Library and Logan Center Gallery; and in Bangkok with SAC Gallery via a collaboration with NORITO. Residencies include the Lower East Side Printshop (NY), Ragdale (IL), La Wayaka Current (Chile), and New York Academy (NY). She is currently a Junior Fellow on the MFA at Goldsmiths.
About Charlotte Winifred Guérard
Charlotte Winifred Guérard (b.1998, Rouen, France) lives and works in London, UK. She received her BA in Painting from the University of Brighton (2020), and her Postgraduate diploma the Royal Academy of Arts Schools, London (2025).
Selected solo exhibitions include: Matthew’s Boat, Palmer Gallery (2024), Luca’s Boot, Gallery 19a, Brighton (2022), Beams, La Maison Normande Residency, La Londe, France (2021), Prawn Cocktail, Coachwerks, Brighton (2019).

In 2025, Charlotte was the recipient of the Paul Smith – Winsor & Newton International Art Prize, The Almacantar Studio Prize and the Xenia Artist Retreat Prize.

About Mengmeng Zhang
Mengmeng Zhang (b. 1997, Jiangsu, China) is a London-based artist who graduated from the MFA Painting at the Slade School of Fine Art in 2025. She holds a BA in Digital Publishing from the China Academy of Art and an MA in Painting from Camberwell College of Arts.
Zhang presented solo exhibitions including Illusion at A-Single-Piece Gallery (Sydney, 2025) and Out of Place at Bonian Space (Beijing, 2024). Zhang has also participated in group exhibitions including Fire at Twilight Contemporary (London, 2025), Real Artist Sweat at Tiderip (London, 2025), Line Shifu and Bakery Shifu at Small Time Project (London, 2025), Pareidolia at Mandy Zhang Art (London, 2025), Everything under the sun at Arts & Collections (Shanghai, 2025) and Moving Principle at Arusha Gallery (London, 2025), among others. She received the Almacantar Studio Award in 2025 and was shortlisted for the New Wave Art Prize at the Bloomsbury Festival and the Hari Art Prize in 2024.
