Building an organic community and presenting yourself and your practice in a way that really reflects who you are as an artist can be a difficult thing to grapple with – especially in our increasingly online world.
To kick things off, Jess will encourage attendees to reflect on your current relationship with social media, working through guided writing prompts and mapping exercises to build out your own ‘content pillars’ which you can use as a framework to ideate and create consistent, engaging content for social media that speaks to your followers.
She will then deep dive into Instagram for artists specifically, breaking down how to navigate the algorithm and get your work seen, craft your unique online presence, and convert creativity into online sales and work.
We will also quickly touch upon newsletters, why you might want one, the best platforms to set one up on, and how to build engagement and an audience through them.
Throughout the session, artists will be encouraged to build out their workbooks – which will be sent in advance of the event – allowing them to leave the workshop with an initial plan and a ‘brand bible’ which can be actioned right away!
The workshop will end with a dedicated 45-minute group coaching session where Jess will tackle specific questions and scenarios sent in and suggested from attendees to provide actionable guidance on what to do next.

About Bow Skills
Bow Arts seeks to support creative professionals at all stages of their careers. In 2015 Bow Arts launched Bow Skills in response to an artist survey which showed over 90% of practicing artists find it useful to receive further support outside formal education.
Bow Skills is a dynamic and relevant programme of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) which is informed by an artist steering group and open to all creative practitioners across London. The programme of talks, panel discussions, new skills labs and peer crits is open to all, with concession rates available to students, over 65s, under 18s, Bow Arts artists and key workers.

The Bow Arts Trust office has step-free access throughout from street level, including to the accessible toilet, and is service animal friendly. This venue does not have a hearing loop system. Accessible parking is not available on-site.
