Try out the art of Suminagashi, a Japanese paper marbling technique that uses ink on water. Led by local Thamesmead artist Chloe Cooper, these workshops provide a basic introduction to the technique in a relaxed atmosphere.
Together we will try out different tools and techniques as well as utilising our breathing, marbling to music and developing ways of displaying our prints.
This Suminagashi Workshop is drop in only between 2pm-4pm on Tuesday 5th December and Tuesday 12th December 2023. All materials will be provided for the workshop. Please feel free to come in and leave the session at any point.
If you are interested in finding out more about Suminagashi, the first session will provide an overview of the technique in Japan.
These sessions are free and are drop in only. Suminagashi workshop sessions are limited to 12 people at a time, to maintain a relaxed atmosphere and allow time to create prints. Creative Wellbeing Workshops are part of an ongoing series at The Nest Community Building and Library, Thamesmead.
