Make a Comic Strip with Chloe Cooper
Saturday 4th July 2026 , 11:00am to 1:00pm
Inspired by comic strips from Thamesmead’s newspapers, join artist Chloe Cooper for a series of two workshops that demonstrate how to create your own comic, and then turn it into a zine.

For our first session, local residents are invited to explore the garden at the Lakeside Centre, and learn the basics of making comic strips to share gardening tips, funny garden-based moments and horticultural disasters!
Inspired by ‘Fred’s Gardening Diary’, the gardening-based comic strip that graced many editions of our local newspaper the Thamesmead Times in the early 90s, the workshop is an opportunity to contribute to a zine that will bring together the comics in one volume.
All materials provided – no experience in comic strip creation or gardening is necessary! This workshop is for all ages, and is young-person and family-friendly.
This workshop is delivered in partnership with TACO! Book a place at our second workshop here. If you can no longer make the event, please reach out to let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your place to someone else.
