Join artist Rebecca Griffiths in a hands-on workshop designed to equip teachers with the skills and confidence to bring clay into the curriculum.
Working with ceramic artist and educator Rebecca Griffiths, participants will learn some of the core techniques and fundamentals in clay – including how to build strong structures, models and forms using pinching and coiling.
The workshop will also teach the use of various clay tools, and how to develop surface detail through carving, cutting, impressing, and modelling.
As well as learning practical techniques, participants will gain an understanding of the ways clay can develop tactile sensitivity, memory, touch, fine motor skills and support wellbeing.
This workshop is focused on delivering skills and techniques that can be executed using air-drying clay and readily-available tools, but all content is also suitable for teachers who have kilns and more advanced clay equipment in their schools.
These Bow Arts practical art CPD workshops for teachers aim to equip participants with skills that can be applied immediately in the classroom, while aiming to reshape attitudes to what it means to work with art materials sustainably.
The techniques explored in each workshop aim make use of inexpensive, easy-to-access art materials, and can be applied to primary and secondary school level.
All materials are provided.
A 15% discount is available when booking 3 or more CPD workshops in a season. Please enquire for the promo code.
