Weaving in the Wild with Chloe Cooper

Saturday 20th September 2025 , 3:00pm to 5:00pm

Inspired by the built environment and natural world around the Lakeside Centre, join us for a playful workshop at our upcoming Open Studios, where you can try your hand at large-scale fence weaving, as well as weave a mini wall hanging to take home.

We will upcycle used Thamesmead Festival banners to create a bold and colourful weaving that will live on the Lakeside Centre’s fence. You will also have the chance to create a small woven wall hanging – featuring your own wildlife characters – to take home and brighten up your bedroom, kitchen, or anywhere that needs a splash of colour and creativity.

This workshop builds on a session Chloe ran in 2024 as part of the Lakeside Garden Club – a free programme designed to introduce ways of growing and nourishing a garden while also connecting with creativity through making, observing, and cooking.

All materials are provided.

This event is part of the Lakeside Centre Open Studios. In 2025, Bow Arts celebrates 30 years of providing long-lasting artist support, championing creative sustainable activity within local communities and providing affordable live & work spaces.

More about Chloe Cooper

Chloe Cooper is an artist and educator. She makes zines and prints that splash about in everyday instances of cheeky criticality and observational wonder. They include a hand-drawn compendium of cars, plants and people, a print of self-styled silicone “pleasure pouches” and a choose-your-own-adventure zine for people struggling to come to terms with the resurrection of their local community centre.
