Cygnet Square Market is back! On the first Saturday of each month, local residents are welcome to explore a range of food & drink stalls and workshops.
Following September’s market, the Cygnet Square Market will take place again on Saturday 7th October at 10 am- 4 pm. The market, a stone’s throw away from Abbey Wood Station, will feature free art workshops, food stalls, and artisan markets. You are invited to visit TACO! next door to the market for a coffee, and visit the newly opened Thamesmead Library. September’s market featured an exciting experimental workshop led by Thamesmead-based artists Jackson Payne and Nancy Thornber. The next workshop will be announced soon, so keep an eye out for more information! The market is a collaboration between ACE Events and Bow Arts.
Sakiori Weaving Workshop
Join artist Miyuki to learn Sakiori (meaning tear:saki and weave:ori), a traditional Japanese weaving method using textile recycling. Old fabrics are cut/torn into thin strips then woven with a cardboard loom. You can make small tapestries. Materials will be provided but also feel free to bring your own fabric such as old clothes, colour T-shirts, and shirts! Recommended age: 7+ years.
The market will take place on the first Saturday of every month.
Please note there is no parking available to the public.
Cygnet Square Market is a short walk away from Abbey Wood Rail Station (Elizabeth Line, National Rail), and can be accessed by bus routes 177, 244, 229, 301, 401, 472, 601, 602, 669.
