RAW Short Film Screening

Bow Arts presents a free afternoon of short films curated by Kevin Holmes-Attivor. Experience a diverse selection of documentaries and fiction that will make you laugh out loud and provoke thought in equal measure.

Filmmaker and Event Curator at FAWW Gallery in Soho, Kevin Holmes-Attivor has lined up an eclectic selection of short films to entertain and enrich your Saturday afternoon. From animated eye issues, to birdwatching intrigue, cinema at Royal Albert Wharf has never been so alive.

The Real Eastenders

London’s East End has changed massively, but some local families can still trace their roots back through many generations. Meeting children growing up on the Isle of Dogs.

Documentary filmmaker Ashley Francis-Roy makes distinctive, warm and authentic films. His work is emotionally engaging, intimate, and full of joy and humanity. As a filmmaker, he’s driven by the people he meets and collaborates with, and it’s these amazing characters – their worlds and their stories – that spark his passion for documentary.

Skyward

Young birdwatchers Mya and Arjun feel the pressure of climate breakdown and the biodiversity crisis. As two reserved teenagers on the cusp of adulthood, they find comfort in birdwatching while being distant from their peers. 

London-based director and artist Jessica Bishopp is fascinated by subcultures and myth, as well as exploring universal themes embedded in our daily lives and thoughts; exposing the magic in the mundane. 

Sticks of Fury 

There are few things more important than linkin’ gyal, but when an opportunity arises to put some youngers in their place, Tobz knows what time it is.

Yuan Hu is a Franco-Chinese filmmaker born in London, Heavily influenced by animation, the surreal and darkly comedic cinema, his style favours lo-fi aestheticsm

Stop and Search

Two UK police officers find themselves unfairly stopped and searched in this satiric short from London-based filmmaker Harry Jackson.

Pitch Black Panacea

Two people with lazy eyes take part in an unusual experimental treatment (10 days in complete darkness) to correct their disorder.

Thomas Hardiman – Thomas Hardiman (England) is a writer and director. He studied art at Chelsea College of Arts and Ruskin School of Art before joining UK production company, EMU, where he worked in the art department on TV series The Cut. Later he moved into writing and directing short films, including Radical Hardcore (2015) which won the BFI’s Network Pick Series and Pitch Black Panacea (2020). His debut feature Medusa Deluxe is currently out in cinemas across the UK.

Dragonboys

In Accra, Ghana – A brotherhood of young men have merged their varied physical talents into a new awe-inspiring performance art. A short from Tom Ringsby.
