In a unique partnership with East Thames, Bow Arts in 2009 created a new model for affordable studio provision for artists and creative industries.
In this ground floor conversion of a warehouse space, a 2-minute walk from the Bow Road Studios complex and The Nunnery, Bow Arts Trust has provided artists with access to much needed affordable workspace, and at the same time is creating sustainable long term funding for community focused arts activity produced directly from the studios.
Over the 20 years length of the lease of this building Bow Arts will produce annually around £20,000 to seed fund a range of high quality arts activity which will benefit the residents of East Homes and the wider local community. See what East Thames say about the project here.
At a time when the arts sector is encountering funding cuts, this model provides a truly sustainable and locally focused solution to help housing associations and local authorities fulfill their community remits.
The spaces we still have available are ideal for multi occupancy for small creative businesses, applied arts, design or new media practices. Fully self contained and secure, the studios are equipped with good kitchen and toilet facilities for sole use of studio occupants. Heating and wifi access are also available across this site; all studios have BT point included for phone or individual broadband. There are 11 studios, all situated on the ground floor and accessible. There is 24-hour access, 7 days a week access to the studios.
Studios are situated a two minute walk from main Bow Arts Studio complex on Bow Road. The studios are a short walk from Bow Church DLR and Bow Rd Underground Stations. The following buses stop nearby: 25, 8, 108
Please note that there is no parking on site; arrangements can be made for loading and unloading of deliveries.
