Bow Road Open Studios 2019

Friday, June 14, 2019 to Saturday, June 15, 2019
Bow Arts, 183 Bow Road, London E3 2SJ
Friday 14 June, 6-9pm, Saturday 15 June, 12-6pm

Join us for Bow Arts’ biggest event of the year, the annual and much anticipated Bow Road Open Studios.

Across Friday 14 and Saturday 15 June, Bow Arts’ iconic Bow Road studios site will throw open its doors to the public once again, inviting visitors behind the scenes to discover the work and studios of over 120 of London’s most exciting painters, sculptors, theatrical designers, product designers, performers, jewellers, fashion designers, illustrators and more. With live music from jazz soul band Whoarethepeople, family-friendly workshops and activities, artist talks, pop-up stalls selling unique creative wares, delicious food, a gin bar and more, this once-a-year event is not to be missed.

Bow Open Studios is a fantastic, free opportunity for members of the public, curators and collectors to explore a vast and diverse selection of work and to meet some of east London's brightest emerging and established artists, designers and makers. The Bow Open is also a celebration of all things Bow, with cocktails from local gin brewery East London Liquor Company, locally-brewed craft beer and a craft market of items hand-made by artists in the area.

Thanks to Own Art, we'll also be offering most works for sale over 10 interest-free instalments, making buying local art more affordable! More info here.

Additionally, Raw Materials: Plastics – the latest in Bow Arts’ flagship East End heritage exhibition series – will also be on show at the on-site Nunnery Gallery and open late until 9pm, revealing east London’s central role in the invention and development of plastics.

Entrance is free and all ages are welcome.

The full programme details will be announced here shortly, so keep checking back for more details.

Family FORMcard Workshop – Saturday 15 June (2-4pm)

Using Peter Marigold's FORMcard – a new bio-degradable mouldable plastic – we'll be making objects inspired by natural materials, as part of the Nunnery Gallery's Raw Materials: Plastics project, looking at the history of plastics in east London. Free drop-in workshop for all ages.
